RSV

On Thursday, Aiden was diagnosed with RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus). It is a very common virus that usually affects the nose, throat, and lungs. It is very serious when it occurs in babies, but since Aiden is a little older it supposedly isn't that serious...yet. Thursday night was a little rough, but Aiden woke up at 5:00 AM. Shawn was great and got up with him and let me sleep in. Friday night wasn't bad, but Saturday was pretty bad most of the day. Aiden had a fever of 99-100 degrees pretty much all day. Last night he did great, but around 4:00 AM he started crying a little. Since he didn't fully wake up and went back down I just stayed in bed. He would cry and go back down for the next two hours, but again, since he didn't ever fully wake up I just ignored my instinct to get up and check on him. We have a video monitor so I can see what's going on in his crib. Finally at 6:00 AM I woke up Shawn and told him I was a little worried since Aiden was crying off and on for the last two hours. We went in there to check on him and he had a fever (which didn't surprise us because that's what we expected) and his eyes were crusted shut. The reason he never fully woke up and was crying off and on was because he couldn't open his eyes because they were crusted shut. I felt like a complete horrible mom again. So we got him up, cleaned his eyes, put him in the bath to try to bring down his temp, and gave him some food and water. He downed his water bottle. He was so thirsty! I decided I should also call the nurse line just to make sure all of this was normal and we shouldn't worry. She said as long as he is eating, drinking, and wetting his diapers, we shouldn't worry unless his temperature gets to 105. He is sleeping right now and we are checking on him every thirty minutes. It is really hard not to worry. I just want this all to be over with. I hate it when my baby is sick. It is devistating.
