Lilah Update

Lilah had her one month check up yesterday and she had gained some major weight!! She is now 10 1/2 lbs (75%)!! She is now 21 inches long (50%) and her head is 15 inches around (75%). She has a big head like her mommy. The doctor said she looked great. I had noticed a little weird look to her bum bum so I asked the doctor about it. She said she had noticed it when she first came in, but wasn't worried about it. She said that when the baby forms in the womb the spine wraps around itself (or something like that) and sometimes the spine doesn't close properly at the base and creates this defect, but she could tell that the spine did close properly and just created this "dimple" randomly. She sees it a lot. However, upon further look, she did notice a second dimple that didn't terribly concern her but she wanted us to get an ultrasound just to make sure. She said there was a small risk that she had spina bifida. OH MY GOODNESS!! I never would have thought that. I always thought that if you had spina bifida you would immediately know because there would be an obvious sign that something was wrong, but apparently not. I was trying not to freak out, but inside I was freaking out for sure. We went for the ultrasound and the radiologist immediately said everything was fine. Phew!!

On a more positive note, Lilah seems to be doing really well. She has reflux and is taking medication for that, but it doesn't seem to be terrible. She is sleeping very well and typically only wakes up once a night. She doesn't cry or anything (just grunts) so Daddy gets his sleep!!
