Aiden's great grandma Wilma passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2010. We were very sad, but thankful that she would not be in any more pain. Her funeral was on Wednesday, so we made the trip up to Norman on Tuesday. We decided to bring the new cot for Aiden to sleep on since he's been sleeping on a cot at school. We were a little nervous about how it would go. Well, it couldn't have gone worse. Tuesday morning at 2 AM Aiden decides to wake up and play. He is WIDE AWAKE. He's yawning here and there, but he doesn't act too sleepy. I was so mad. He would not go back down for anything. I tried everything I could think of. Finally Shawn got him down at about 4:30 or 5:00 AM and then the alarm went off at 6:00 AM. Needless to say, we were both very tired all day the day of the funeral. Poor Shawn had to drive 2 1/2 hours to Sayre. Of course Aiden got a nice nap on the way down there. We drove back to Norman later that day and decided we were just too tired to drive all the way back to Dallas, so we stayed in Norman another night. This one was worse. This time Aiden decided to wake up at 12:30 AM. Yes, TWELVE THIRTY! I was livid. He didn't seem to be as wide awake this time, but he refused to lay down. I rocked him, I walked with him, I laid down with him, I bounced him. I tried everything. We would be in the living room and he'd say he wanted to go in the bedroom, then once we got to the bedroom he'd say he wanted to go to the living room. This went on for a while. I finally laid down on the couch and he crawled between my legs and laid his head on my stomach and fell asleep. He would adjust about every 10 minutes so I did not get to sleep at all. I woke Shawn up at 6 AM and said LET'S GO HOME!! I was so incredibly tired. I'm not looking forward to any more trips home for a while that's for sure.
On a much brighter note, the funeral service was very nice and it was great to see the family.
